Useful information

Community in scope – which communities or families are you looking to help out?

ALL the families who have lost their jobs and are affected somehow due to COVID19. We are not a faith based organization therefore we cater for all Fijians out there.

Number of individuals and target dates for your helping hands Fiji initiative.

We do not have any specific number of people we help. We help whoever we think is genuine. We make a list of all these genuine people and head out with whatever they need as soon as we can. We do not have a specific date for giving out grocery packs, diapers or baby formulas either. We act as soon as we receive a request. Once confirmed that a case is genuine, we reach out to them as soon as we can. We do not let them wait and starve to death.

For the items that is in your food pack: Is there a guide on how this is packaged

We provide all the recipients with basic food items only. We have a standard pack for all families. This pack will suffice a small family for nearly 3 weeks and a big family for at least 1.5 weeks.

The items include: 4kg rice, 5kg flour, 4kg sugar, 1kg onion, 1kg potato, 1kg salt, 1kg yellow split peas, 100g tea leaves, 450g powdered milk, 2x 425g tin fish, 3 x tin tuna, 750ml oil, 5 pack noodles, 1 packet 375g breakfast crackers

or criteria on how you determine which individuals or groups would qualify as recipients?

As soon as we receive requests for assistance via our Facebook page, email or third party, it is immediately handed over to the Area Coordinator who are then responsible to carry out a thorough background check. Next, we visit the family and see their actual situation/condition. We also request to sight original termination/laid off letters, if claims are made.

Once we’ve received all these information then only the Admins decide if the case is genuine or not and are we to proceed with assistance or decline the request.

All the above is done within a day or 2 as we understand that majority are out there without any food. We reach out to them as soon as we can.
